The Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) is committed to supporting all students to:

The 2024-2025 school year was the third year of implementing the Board Improvement and Equity Plan (BIEP). We have:
- Summarized our performance indicators
- Reflected on the implementation of our BIEP strategies and actions
Areas of Focus
The BIEP is one of the ways we review our progress and the outcomes of specific strategies to support students in achieving their learning goals in WRDSB classrooms.
The four areas of the BIEP were:
- Achievement:
- Every student will succeed academically.
- Sovereignty, human rights and equity:
- Every student and staff member has equitable opportunities in an environment free from discrimination.
- Mental health, well-being and engagement:
- Every student and staff member will learn and work in environments that engage them and support their mental health and well-being.
- Pathways and transitions:
- Every student is prepared for the next step in their elementary and secondary education and their postsecondary pathway.
Updates on Outcomes from the 2024-25 Plan
In the third year of the implementation of the Board Improvement and Equity Plan:
- There was a continued focus on the use of evidence-based instructional practices through the implementation and monitoring of the:
- We continue to build on our commitment to improving well-being, equity and student pathways through:
- Supporting WRDSB schools to create environments where students feel a sense of connection and belonging
- Sovereignty-affirming and equity leadership competencies
We also aligned the Board Improvement and Equity Plan with the Ministry of Education Student Achievement Plan, which includes:
- Eleven indicators mandated by the Ministry of Education
- Data supplied by the Ministry and posted annually
Partnership with Parents, Families and Caregivers
The accomplishments in support of student achievement and well-being outlined in this update would not have been possible without the important partnerships we have with parents, families and caregivers. Together, we’re helping to ensure that every student can achieve academic success and know that they belong at their school.
