Hello Woodland Park Families,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year. We are excited to be welcoming new and returning Woodland Park Bears on September 6th. I hope that you all had a restful and enjoyable summer and are excited to get this year started. I continue to be in awe of the AMAZING staff that we have here at Woodland, including our new head secretary, Jenn Kuntz, who has worked long hours this week trying to get all students registered and placed in classes. I am also grateful for Mr. Dave Wolf and his custodial team who have worked tirelessly over the whole summer getting our school ready to welcome back our students.

You will notice that, on our tarmac, there is a temporary cooling/heating system that is fenced off by our primary entrance. We have had an update over the summer to our systems and the project won’t fully be completed until later this fall. So, this will impact our outdoor play and tarmac for a while. Thank you for being patient as we continue to make Woodland Park a great place to be.

For Tuesday:

WRDSB shared yesterday that School Day is not functioning in a way that will allow class lists to be posted for students to find out their classes prior to school starting on September 6th. See more info here. This means that students in WRDSB schools, including Woodland Park, will not find out their teacher until they arrive Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday morning, at Woodland, as students arrive, we will direct all of our students to the back of the school to meet on the tarmac. There will be WPK staff situated at all entrances of our property who will have class lists. Please have your student know which grade they will be entering as that will make knowing which class they are in easier.

Our bus students will be dropped off and met by Mrs. D who will direct them to their class.

My hope is that this process will be as smooth as possible but it will be a bit chaotic at first. We appreciate your patience. Please limit the amount of adults that are dropping off students as it will help ensure that all students are seen and sent to where they need to be. As well, can we keep all of our canine friends at home for the first day.

Supervision starts at 8:30am. This is when staff will be outside to meet students.

As always, there is no parking in the school parking lot. Please park at the arena and walk using the crosswalk to the back of the school. Please do not pull over on the side of Ellis Rd to drop off students. It is very dangerous for all of our students.

To help you narrow in on the possible staff teaching your child’s grade, here is our homeroom list:

K1 – Ms Wilms, Ms. Robillard

K2 –  Ms. Dinney, Ms. Shergill

1/2A – Ms. Sirotic
