January 8th, 2016
Happy New Year everyone! We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and were able to squeeze in some rest and relaxation.
PIZZA orders are now being accepted on School-Day. Your child can enjoy hot, delicious New Orleans pizza every Thursday from January 21 – March 31 at first nutrition break. Choose from cheese or pepperoni pizza on a regular crust or cheese pizza on a gluten-free crust. Orders must be placed by January 17, 2016 and are for the full 10 weeks. One slice for 10 weeks = $15.00, 2 slices for 10 weeks = $30.00, and so on. Please be sure to enter the correct quantity when you order. Sorry – late orders will not be accepted and pizza cannot be saved for absent students.
To order simply log into School-Day and click the Products tab. Click on the blue PIZZA link and complete your order — choose the crust type, topping, child’s name and number of slices to be delivered EVERY WEEK of the ordering period. Upon checkout you can choose to pay online (by debit or credit) or to send cash in with your child (please send exact cash and include your child’s name and the order number).
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION is going paperless! Beginning January 22nd, parents will be able to complete their child’s registration form online. More information will be provided shortly.
MAD SCIENCE returns to Woodland Park! Registrations are now being accepted for “Imagination Investigation” for students in grades 1 – 6. This 8 week session will run from Monday, January 18th to Monday, March 21st, 3:10 – 4:10 p.m. Registration forms were sent home earlier this week and are due Monday, January 11th.
STUDENT SAFETY is a priority. Please remember to park in the arena parking lot when dropping off or picking up your child(ren). For the safety of our students vehicles are not permitted to enter our parking lot during drop off and pick up times. Thank you for your co-operation.
INCLEMENT WEATHER ENTRY – Please note that on rainy or extremely cold days students may enter the school, through their normal entry doors, at 8:35 a.m. when the bell rings three times. Parents are requested to remain outside and allow their child(ren) to independently make their way to their homeroom. Thank you for your cooperation.
STRONG START VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – Do you want to make a big difference in the learning of a young child? Volunteers are needed to assist with our Strong Start program. Training will be provided. This important program, Strong Start Letters, Sound and Words, helps children child gain confidence in identifying the letters of the alphabet, the sound each represents, how to learn words by sight and how to learn a word by using the sound of its letters. Volunteers will work with children individually for 30 minutes two or three days a week for ten weeks. During each session there is a set of activities for the child and volunteer to play in order to help the child increase skills. If you are interested in assisting, please contact the school at 519-654-9402.
STUDENT ILLNESS – Parents are asked to keep students home from school when students are not feeling well. Students who come to school when they are ill jeopardize their own health as well as put others at risk. It is always a good idea to follow the “24 hour” rule – stay home for 24 hours after symptoms have stopped. Frequent reminders about basic hygiene habits like regular hand washing with soap and water and using clean tissues for runny noses/sneezes are good preventative practices. It takes the co-operation of all families if a healthy environment is to prevail at school. As well, it is very important that parents keep us up-to-date with contact telephone numbers so that we can contact you if your child becomes ill while at school.
